Do 9W Croquet Referees require USCA certification?

by Paul Bennett · 22 May 2019

The 9 Wicket committee does not require the development of certified referees.
Referees are not needed because there are not shot faults to be watched that require a qualified referee. This is what sets 9WC apart from other versions of the game.

On the other hand, particularly when introducing new players to the game, it might be very beneficial to train volunteers to assist in helping to maintain order, order of play, situations where a wicket is cleared or not cleared, shepherding or double tapping the ball.

Understanding of the rules and options chosen to be played is essential in performing this task.

As in all games of croquet, all players follow an honor system whereby its players are expected to self-call their striking faults or misplays
